NEWSFLASH - CRIMDOTCON GONEBURGER No Minister

The Kraut who tried to subvert our democratic process is on his way to the good ole US of A.

Hone, Laila and Minto along with sundry Labour, Green & Winston First politicians who beat their way to the doors of his Coatsville mansion will not be happy.

Many New Zealanders will be.   Nuff said.

Updated #1 ... his defense team have announced the decision will be appealed to the High Court.    Any appeal is restricted to points of law only.

Updated #2 ... understand 'the man' wants to know if there is a Ecuadorean Embassy in
Wgtn.

Updated #3 ... sad (but entirely expected) that Hone H should be sourced to give his opinion on the decision.   According to him there in no justice in NZL.   This from someone who sold his Mana to crimdotcon for thirty pieces of silver.   He has no creds, no creds at all except to a small bunch of rag tag true believers who believe that John Frum is alive and well and good mates with Hone.

Judge Dawson: The “overwhelming preponderance” of evidence against the men established a prima facie case Whale Oil Beef Hooked | Whaleoil Media

Judge Nevin Dawson has delivered his verdict and decided that Kim Dotcom should face extradition to the US. Dotcom to Go (15 days to appeal) coNZervative

kimdotcom1200rtrs

It’s done; Dotcom’s appeal against the US’s extradition case US is lost. This simply means that it is lawful for NZ to now extradite Dotcom and fellow defendants to the US to face trial (of which they are currently innocent until proven guilty).

Judge Dawson said there was an “overwhelming” amount of evidence that all 4 should be surrendered to the US – NZ Herald

After years of courtroom battles, a judge has decided internet tycoon Kim Dotcom and his co-accused are eligible for extradition to face copyright infringement charges in the US.

A decision from Judge Nevin Dawson was handed down today, though does not mean Dotcom and his co-accused will be forced to leave New Zealand.

That decision is left for Justice Minister Amy Adams.

The group has 15 days to appeal the decision.  – 3 News

RNZ News @rnz_news
Kim Dotcom’s looks “forward to having the US request for extradition reviewed in the High Court.”

Judge Dawson said he wouldn’t read his entire decision aloud, because it would take too long. The formal judgment would be made available to all parties, including media.

He first addressed an earlier stay application applied for by Dotcom, which he rejected.

He then said that the the US had a “large body of evidence” which supported a prima facie case had been made.

“The respondents fall well short of undermining the case,” he said. — Stuff

Two More Prebyterians Arrested No Minister

You can tell by their names they are Presbyterians.

Police will allege two Sydney men arrested this morning by counter-terrorism police were planning possible attacks on a range of targets, including the Navy base at Garden Island on Sydney Harbour.

The men, 24-year-old Abdullah Salihy from Merrylands in the city’s west and Mohammed Almouie, 20, from the southwest suburb of Bankstown, were arrested at home. Both are expected to be charged and will appear in court today.

KNOCK ME DOWN WITH A FEATHER No Minister

I have said a number of times that the only blogger on the 'left' that I have any time for is Chris Trotter.   We have met occasionally. He is, without doubt, 'old Labour' and proud of it.    His writings on Bowalley Road are thoughtful and without rancor.   In short, I'd enjoy discussing life with him over a beer (or a chardonnay).

But you could have knocked me down with a feather to read his article here where he names Bill English as his politician of the year.

Not sure how they go about excommunication on planet left.

Profound Thoughts on latest Star Wars coNZervative

Choices and Commitments

tumblr_nnv265LL611qm88jwo1_1280“This movie had me thinking a lot about choices and commitments. About facing things even when you know it’ll hurt. Near the end, two characters walk out onto a bridge, and what happens next is predictable. But not in a cheap, lazy writing kind of way. It’s predictable because it’s the inevitable result of who the two characters, in that moment, resolve to be.

Han has spent the last several years running away from his responsibilities. Even his participation in the final battle is reluctant. But when he sees his son on that bridge, he decides to stop running, to stop being the lucky scoundrel that can talk his way out of any situation. It’s time to keep his promise to Leia, and risk everything on even the smallest chance of reaching his son. Because that’s what partners and fathers do. The decision costs him, but he doesn’t show any regret, because he fully accepts the consequences of the role he’s chosen.

Ben/Kylo Ren has all the power on that bridge, but unlike Han, he has difficulty accepting where his choices are taking him. He speaks of the pain of uncertainty, of being continually torn between two paths, and what he seems to want more than anything is some kind of resolution. Any resolution, really. If he leaves with his father, the dueling temptations will always be there. But if he takes his father’s life, then he’ll c...

A Challenge: Kangaroo or Wallaby?? coNZervative

Screen shot 2015-12-22 at 11.58.39 AMA regular reader challenged me about the story below A Lazy Book Cover  suggesting the animal was actually a wallaby

“John, not sure what’s lazy about the cover. It is quite clearly a picture of a wallaby and wallabies were introduced to the interior of Te Waipounamu in 1856, something I am sure Brunner would have known of or encountered in his travels.”

But he is wrong. It is a kangaroo. I would know I sell kangaroo meat in New Zealand.  Here are the differences. At left the breeds of Wallaby imported in to NZ and below them a kangaroo; you decide.  They are quite different animals.  Of course the illustration refers to the “Australia” bit of the main title which is why I said it was “lazy.”

Breeds of Wallaby in New Zealand; below Kangaroo (none in NZ wild).

Big Day Today : Cathedral & Dotcom coNZervative

Two lingering drawn out disputes will be resolved today after protracted court actions.

kimdotcom1200rtrs

The Christchurch cathedral will be ruled on and Dotcom will hear if he can be extradicted to the US. I think he should; to face issues there; and I agree with Sir Bob that the cathedral should now be resolved one way or the other. Ideally the Anglican Church should have been allowed to decide for itself but it has received lots of public money over the years so there is a duty of care to include the public sentiment.  I suspect a compromise

The best outcome would be to rebuild the Christ Church cathedral from wood according to its original plans. That way we’d get ‘the original’ cathedral without the expensive and problematic issues with heavy stone which was a last minute departure when it was first built when a nearby quarry was discovered.

7Best (3/7 Monsters of Star Wars) coNZervative

Space Slug  “This is no cave.” When a movie monster can be identified by one line of dialogue, you know it’s successful. Also known as the exogorth, the space slug — aptly nicknamed, as it’s a giant slug that lives in space — features heavily in one of The Empire Strikes Back‘s most famous scenes. (The Millennium Falcon unknowingly docks inside its belly and then must narrowly escape its closing jaws.) The space slug sequence puts a clever spin on the trash compactor scene from A New Hope, further illustrating the danger-all-around-you element of Star Wars, and how once you think you’re safe, you’ve probably just run into — literally, in this case — a bigger problem.
